Although we know that fruits & vegetables are good for us, you may be surprised by these statistics. Less than 24% of men & 22% of women ages 50 to 64 consume less than 5 servings of fruits & vegetables a day but tend to consume more protein than fruit & vegetables.
I believe that getting a better understanding of why we need to consume these foods will help to change those results.
So, Why Do We Need to Consume More Fruits & Vegetables?
Most of us know that it’s important to eat greens, because they’re packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber & water and low in calories. Eating a diet rich in leafy greens can offer numerous health benefits including reduced risk of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure and mental decline.
Yet for many people it’s a challenge to get in the necessary amount of greens into their system. Greens are also a great source of phytonutrients. Romaine, spinach, Boston (butter head) arugula, green leaf lettuces are some of the different greens that are usually used in a salad.
Cruciferous leafy greens are collard greens, mustard greens, swiss chard, kale, cabbage & broccoli and edible leaves like red clover, water cress, chick weed, dandelion & plantain can be added to salads, soups & stir-fries, they are flavorful & nutritious.
If you aren’t including these green leafy vegetables into your diet, you may be wondering if there is a whole food plant-based supplement that is easy to use, nutritious & delicious that you can consume? Absolutely!
Greens supplements are not a substitute for actual food. However, since we aren’t getting the nutrients that we need through our consumption of fruit & veggies; the alternative is to improve it through taking green supplements.
Green supplements are veggies, fruits, algaes & or grasses that have been compressed into a powder. Consuming green supplements will improve a diet that’s low in fruit & vegetables.
It’s taken me a while to find a reputable “Green Supplement” product that contains Proprietary Alkalizing Grasses, that is organic, non-GMO, contains no soy, wheat or dairy or artificial sweeteners & tastes delicious. It’s easy to use either as a drink or incorporated into a shake.
Remember the saying “your body has the innate ability to heal itself provided you give it what it needs” & this is an easy alternative way to help move you forward in that direction.
Congratulations on taking this step to propel you forward towards health & wellness. Thank you for showing up for yourself.
As we bring this year to a close, I’d like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to share with you some of the insights I’ve put into practice in my own life.
Wishing you a New Year filled with hope, health & abundance…
To Your Optimal Health!
